Professional Installation Guide
Proper tensioning and sealing are critical to prevent bird intrusion and mechanical fatigue.
Tools Required:
Measuring tape, chalk line, ladder (for overhead trellises)
Cable tensioner (turnbuckle)
Heavy-duty scissors or hot knife (to prevent fraying)
Safety gloves and glasses
Installation Workflow (Overhead Canopy / Solar Array Standard Method):
A. Framework Preparation
Install a support structure (existing trellis wires, steel posts spaced at 2–3m intervals). The top wire should be 30–50 cm above the crop canopy or solar panel surface.
B. Mesh Deployment
Unroll the Solar Mesh parallel to the longest side of the protected area. Do not drag on abrasive surfaces.
Allow a 20–30 cm overhang on all perimeters for anchoring.
C. Tensioning & Fastening
Primary attachment: Fix the mesh's selvedge (reinforced edge) to the support cable using spring-loaded carabiners every 1–1.5 m. Start from the center and move outward.
Tension adjustment: Use turnbuckles on corner posts to achieve uniform tension (target: 10–15 N/m). Avoid ripples-excess slack invites birds to land and peck through.
Bottom sealing: Bury the lower edge 10–15 cm into soil or secure to ground anchors. For concrete bases, use UV-proof cable ties every 50 cm.
D. Joints & Openings
Overlap two mesh panels by at least 20 cm. Lace them together using stainless steel hog rings or nylon cord (figure-eight stitch).
For access points (doors/tunnels), install zipper closures or Velcro flaps with weighted hems.
E. Post-Installation Inspection
Check all tension points and fasteners after 48 hours (initial relaxation period). Re-tension if necessary.
Trim any protruding filaments using a hot knife to seal edges.
Maintenance & Seasonal Care
Monthly: Inspect perimeter seals and repair any tears using a patch kit (available upon request).
Pre-winter: In regions with snow load, remove or slacken the mesh to prevent tearing.
Cleaning: Hose down with low-pressure water to remove debris. Avoid detergents that may degrade UV inhibitors.
